Landslide damage worth millions in Okhaldhunga

 16 houses at high risk



OKHALDHUNGA: A landslide induced by the continuous rainfall since Saturday afternoon has damaged worth millions and put 16 households at high risk at Champadevi- 3, Silkhubeshi in Okhaldhunga.

According to Okhaldhunga Police, the landslide has killed seven animals and damaged 16 houses including the under-construction Jalakanya Basic School.

The police informed that there have been no human casualties though.

Five families at high risk due to the landslide have been sheltered in the neighborhood.

The locals complain that the cause of the landslide is actually the newly constructed road from Tapkedanda to Pipaldanda.

“The haphazard construction of the road has damaged the inner structure making the area more vulnerable for such disaster,” a local said.
