PM Oli to lay foundation stone for Santhal Integrated Settlement today

KATHMANDU:  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is flying to Morang district to lay a foundation stone for the construction of Santhal Integrated Settlement on Tuesday.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development Krishna Prasad Dawadi said Prime Minister is scheduled to lay a foundation stone for the construction of Santhal Integrated Settlement on the river bank in Urlabari municipality-9 today.

The project of Santhal Integrated Settlement has been taken forward as part of the management and integrated settlement project for those listed under minority group and marginalized community.

The ministry has already prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, said Dawadi. A technical team had been sent to Urlabari to inspect the site and prepare the DPR for the project three months ago.

Minister for Urban Development Prabhu Shah said the government has listed Santhal community as a marginalized and rare community.

The project has been expedited after a high-level team led by former Minister for Urban Development Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Secretary Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh went to Urlabari to inspect the site on November 24.

Oli will also go to his home district Jhapa today to inaugurate Purbanchal Cancer Hospital. Earlier on Sunday, he had gone to Jhapa to lay a foundation stone for the construction of China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park in Constituency-5 in the district.
