KAVRE: Namobuddha municipality plans to give three days’ holiday on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar, the festival of Tamang community.

A meeting of the municipality held on Monday took a decision to this effect on the 2857th Sonam Lhosar.

Similarly, Temal rural municipality has already decided to grant a three-day holiday on the occasion. With the decision, all the offices under the rural municipality will remain closed on February 10, 11 and 12 for the celebration of the festival, said an official at the municipality.

Tamang community has been celebrating Lhosar as the religious and cultural festival for years.

In Tamang language, ‘Lho’ means Year and ‘Sar’ means New. Hence, Lhosar, when combined, means New Year in Tamang language.
