I will hold decisive talks once Speaker returns Nepal: Prachanda tells Nepal Bar officials (with video)

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association has submitted a memorandum to CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda demanding impeachment against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

Agitating lawyers of Nepal Bar on Wednesday met with Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda at the Parliamentary Party Office of the Maoist Center and handed over the memorandum to him.

In response, Chairman Prachanda said he is holding discussions with the political parties on this issue.Prachanda said that this issue should be addressed with the right approach since it is not only related to the judiciary but the entire political system of the country.

He assured that he would hold decisive talks on the issue once Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota returns to Nepal. Sapkota is returning home after wrapping up his visit to Spain.

Nepal Bar has already submitted a 17-point memorandum to the leaders of other political parties seeking impeachment against Rana.

Nepal Bar has been staging demonstrations since October 31 seeking resignation of Chief Justice Rana arguing that corruption thrived in the Supreme Court during his tenure.

Rana is currently undergoing treatment at Armed Police Force Hospital, Balambu after being diagnosed with the coronavirus.
