RPP Gen Convention: Closed session begins in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The closed session of the general convention of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has started in the Kathmandu Valley.

Chairmen trio Kamal Thapa, Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani  will addressing the session before the election of the new leadership.

Incumbent chairman Thapa and leader Rajendra Lingden are in the fray for the post of chairman. Lingden is backed by chairmen duo Rana and Lohani.

Thapa has been at the helm of the RPP for the last 19 years. Lingen is the former general secretary of the party.

The ongoing general convention will appoint a 199-member central committee comprising one chairman, three elected general secretaries and three nominated general secretaries.

Similarly, there will be six vice chairpersons – three elected and three others nominated as per the party statute.

Likewise, the central committee will have seven deputy general secretaries, seven assistant general secretaries and one treasurer as per the party statute.
