NC District Convention: PM Deuba weighing tougher against leader Poudel faction

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has moved towards a clear majority in the district conventions held under the 14th General Convention of the party.

Out of the 61 districts where the convention has been held Deuba faction has bagged presidents in 31 districts whereas Poudel faction has got victory in 27 districts.

Similarly, leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula  faction has won in Jhapa and Baglung districts. Bedraj Singh, who was unanimously elected president of Jajarkot, has so far appeared neutral.

In the 13th General Convention, 33 district presidents were open in favor of Deuba. The 42 district presidents had made a public appeal to the general convention delegates to ensure Poudel’s victory in the election. Deuba, who gave special importance to the delegates in the last general convention, is trying to increase the number of district heads this time.
