KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) founding leader and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has remarked that there should be space for monarchy in the politics.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the party’s unity convention in Kathmandu on Wednesday, he thanked outgoing chairmen Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani for their role for the party unity.
He expressed confidence that the party chairman would be elected on the basis of consensus this time.
Chand urged the political parties to review their activities and mark the need of time and aspiration of the people especially with regard to sensitive issue like the position of monarchy.
Stating that the faith of the people has increased in the monarchy, the former Prime Minister Chand said that they should go to the institution and debate instead of going to individuals.
“There is so much public trust in that institution. An institution is still needed. That is the monarchy,” he said, adding, “Now injustice has suppressed justice.”
