Karnali Chief Minister Shahi resigns to pave way for NC to lead govt



KATHMANDU: Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi resigned from the post to hand over the leadership to the Nepali Congress (NC).

Chief Minister Shahi, in his address to the people of Karnali on Monday, presented details of the work done by his government and announced his resignation.

In his address, he said he resigned to uphold the practice of honest politics to pave the way for coalition partner NC to form a new government as per the an understanding reached among coalition partners when he assumed office.

The government led Shahi had been in power in the province due to the support of NC, Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party and CPN-Unified Socialist, among others.
