KATHMANDU: Main opposition CPN-UML is holding its maiden Statute General Convention from today.

The Statute Convention will take place at Godawari for three days starting today. Around 6,000 leaders and cadres from across the country will take part in the mega event, according to the party.

The main opposition UML is holding this Statute General Convention two and a half months after it exited from the federal government and five weeks after it suffered party split.

UML leaders have said that this Statute General Convention is the biggest event ever and has been organized in order to form policies and ideologies.

UML Chairman KP Sharm Oli will present Political Dossier, General Secretary will present Organizational Proposal and Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Paudel will submit Statute Amendment Proposal in the mega event for endorsement.

According to the proposal, the 70-year age limit for leadership will be given continuity, two-term for chief executive post, directly elected system for officer-bearers, among others. The mega event will last until Sunday.
