He is the second leader to announce his candidature for the post of party president.

Ruling NC has scheduled its 14th General Convention from 25 to 29 November.

Earlier, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi had also formally announced his candidature for the post. Nidhi has already set up a liaison office to launch the campaign on his behalf.

Announcing his candidature for the post, Gurung said that he would mainstream and lead the youth and take the party ahead making it capable to overcome all the challenges the party has been facing till date.

He pointed out that most of the leaders vying for the party leadership have been in leadership since 1990s, and remarked that a new generation should contest for leadership now.

“Our leadership seemed sluggish to cope the challenges, senior leaders should enrich the party spirit with their glorious stories, but the youths with new energy and new potential come to lead the party ahead,” Gurung said.

All three candidates vying for the post of NC President, including incumbent president Sher Bahadur Deuba have come from the background of students politics.
