CPN-UML’s SC meeting underway at Chyasal

Disgruntled faction abstains, Bamdev Gautam turns up



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Standing Committee (SC) is underway at Tulsilal Memorial Foundation at Chyasal in Lalitpur Sunday.

The meeting initially called for Saturday was postponed at the request of leaders close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal to reach a consensus for unity.

Nevertheless, Nepal faction leaders did not attend Sunday’s meeting as no agreement was reached till Sunday afternoon. However, Vice President Bamdev Gautam is participating in today’s meeting.

Though Sunday’s meeting has set the agenda to give full shape to UML central departments, preparations for the party statute and renewal and distribution of party membership, the leaders of the Oli faction will also discuss action against the leaders of the Nepal faction.

Earlier, the Oli faction had sought clarification from 22 lawmakers of Nepal faction, including senior leader Nepal, who had given a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
