CPN-UML holding SC meeting today

Oli faction not to wait for senior leader Nepal if party unity not finalized by Sunday



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is holding its Standing Committee (SC) meeting on Sunday.

The meeting, which was held on Saturday, was postponed called at the request of leaders of the disgruntled faction led by UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal Saturday.

UML Chairman KP Oli had called the SC meeting on Saturday, stating that the party could not remain hostage to indecision.

Earlier, leaders representing the Oli faction and Madhav Kumar Nepal faction held discussions to finalize party unity on Saturday.

Stating that they strived for unity, leaders of the Nepal faction had requested Chairman Oli to postpone the SC meeting to hold discussions with senior leader Nepal.

UML SC member Bishnu Rimal said Chair Oli put off the meeting till 3 pm Sunday in view of requests made by leaders of the Nepal faction.

Though the SC meeting convened, it was dismissed without entering the agenda Saturday.

UML leaders are of the view that they could not wait for senior leader Nepal if party unity cannot be finalized by Sunday afternoon.
