Nepal faction leaders deem Friday’s CC meet illegal, won’t participate

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal faction has concluded that Friday’s Central Committee meeting called by party Chairman KP Sharma Oli was illegal.

Leaders of the faction also decided not to attend the meeting, said leader Ghanshyam Bhusal.

A meeting of the UML’s 10th National General Convention Organizing Committee held on Wednesday had called a meeting of the Central Committee for Friday. The UML Central Secretariat has also written to all leaders to participate in the meeting.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of Nepal faction was held on Thursday to discuss the issue. Bhusal said as the meeting was called by the 10th General Convention Organizing Committee, it is illegal. “The meeting convened tomorrow is a meeting convened by an illegal committee. It does not appear to be in favor of party unity,” he said.

Most of the leaders present at the meeting said they would make sincere efforts for party unity. “Our sincere efforts for party unity will continue. We expect the same effort,” said Bhusal.
