Valley CDOs mull extending prohibitory order by 10 days with slight relaxation

KATHMANDU: Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu Valley have discussed extending the ongoing prohibitory order by 10 days in the Valley, with some relaxation.

A meeting of CDOs of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur held Tuesday discussed extending the order, concluding that previous orders had been able to bring down the number of COVID-19 cases. However, an official declaration is expected to come Wednesday.

Bhaktapur CDO Prem Prasad Bhattarai said discussions were held on relaxing the order by allowing retail shops and department stores to open only till 9 am. He added only discussion was held in today’s meeting and a decision would be taken on Wednesday.

The CDOs also discussed allowing them to resume by keeping workers within construction sites and following health safety protocols. The previous order had halted construction activities as well.

Prohibitory orders were announced after April 29 to curb the soaring cases of coronavirus in the Valley and across the nation.
