Govt terrorizing people rather than comforting them amid COVID-19 crisis: Former Minister Pun

KATHMANDU: Former Minister and CPN-Maoist center leader Barsha Man Pun has accused the government of spreading coronavirus terror rather than working for controlling the pandemic.

Saying the Health Ministry’s statement that the government will not be able to accommodate more coronavirus patients is an act of irresponsibility, former Minister Pun lambasted the government as irresponsible and insensitive.

“Rather than fulfilling its role as guardian of the people and helping them overcome the crisis, the government has been spreading terror of the virus,” he said, adding, “The government has been abusing the resources at its disposal by focusing on propaganda instead of taking real measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Pun has urged the government to stop terrorizing the people and create messaging that they need not fear the pandemic as the government is next to them all the time.

Pun demanded that an all-party mechanism should be formed and mobilized to control the pandemic.
