8,000 Covid rule flouters face music



KATHMANDU: Police have initiated action against over 8,000 persons flouting coronavirus safety protocols and government-imposed prohibitory order as per Infectious Disease Act, 2020.

Police penalized them varyingly, depending on the severity of rules violated.

Police distributed facemasks to 16,664 persons, who were not wearing it, in the past 24 hours and held 45,777 persons in various places for marching about without facemask.

Meanwhile, police also is running awareness campaigns on Covid-19 prevention and control to Covid rule violators and others in general. They have been approaching individuals, urging them to wear facemasks, and have sent many flouters home after receiving word that they won’t get out of homes, except for in an emergency.

Police have been running various awareness campaigns with the aim of breaking the Covid chain that is soaring of late.
