NEW DELHI: Voting for the second phase of assembly election in Assam and West Bengal has begun amid heavy security across both the states.

While 39 seats in Assam and 30 in Bengal are voting today, all eyes remain on Nandigram where the titans – Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her former aide, a BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikari – are up against each other, according to India Today.

In the high stakes battle in Nandigram, CM Banerjee, who is seeking a third successive term in office, has challenged Adhikari at his home turf.

In Assam, voters will decide the fates of five state ministers, the deputy speaker and some key opposition leaders.
