Prachanda-Nepal faction serving other’s interests: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli warned of taking action against the central committee members of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction if they continued to conspire against him.

“Did you forget that I constituted the central committee?” he queried addressing a program in Pokhara on Monday.

“Mind you, I can take action against you if I want to,” he warned the Prachanda-Nepal faction and challenged them to follow proper legal procedures to prove their majority in the party’s central committee.

Reminding his action against NCP Chief Whip Dev Prasad Gurung, PM Oli said, “Just like I appointed Dev Gurung and dismissed him, others, too, can face the same action.”

“It was I who gave you the majority while forming the central committee during the party unification,” Prime Minister Oli expressed fury on the dissident faction adding, “I had sensed some conspiracies being hatched against me during the unification process. However, I did not pay much attention then since my intention was to form a strong party for the sake of political stability.”

He also ridiculed Prachanda and Nepal for exchanging sweets to celebrate the Supreme Court’s order of reinstating the House of Representatives.

PM Oli also challenged the Prachanda-Nepal faction to prove their majority through proper channels, not from the Karki Banquet.

“In fact, how could they do so when Prachanda wants to make a “comfortable” government to serve other’s interests,” he sniffed sarcasm on Prachanda.

He further stated that his party was ready to remain in the opposition for one-and-a-half years. “However, we will come back with a two-thirds majority,” he added.

PM Oli also came down heavily on Prachanda for “producing” a 19-page long defamatory document targeting him and his contribution to the country and the people.

“Their intention is to capture the party to serve the interests of others,” PM Oli claimed adding, “Mind you, I will not let this happen at any cost, and will not compromise on national issues, including sovereignty, integrity, independence, and nationality.”

He also criticized the Prachanda-Nepal faction for dancing to tunes of some foreign powers to fulfill their vested interests.

The party and the government would continue to move forward undeterred, come what may, he added.
