Home Minister Thapa says SC verdict pushed country to instability

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said that Supreme Court (SC) verdict that reinstated the House of Representatives (HoR) has led the country towards instability and uncertainty.

Addressing the cadres of the KP Oli faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Pokhara Monday, Minister Thapa defended Prime Minister Oli’s attempt to dissolve the HoR and said the reinstatement of the parliament has further complicated the situation.

“Our party has been saying we will abide by the SC verdict, we will abide by it. However, we have to be clear that it will lead the country towards instability,” Minister Thapa said expressing his dissatisfaction at the decision and added, “The government will get victory in the parliament as a front as well.”

He appealed all leaders, cadres and well-wishers in another faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal to join the mainstream party leading the government.

Minister Thapa further added that PM Oli and the party would excuse those gone astray if they self-criticize and join the mainstream.
