Prachanda-Nepal faction CC meeting endorses decision to expel PM Oli

Sacks Bishnu Poudel as General Secretary

KATHMANDU: A Central Committee (CC) meeting of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction on Monday endorsed a decision to expel Prime Minister KP Oli from the party.

Similarly, the meeting decided to remove Bishnu Poudel from the post of General Secretary.

During the meeting, NCP Prachanda-Nepal Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda had proposed to expel Oli from the party even as a general member alleging him of violating the party statute and remove Poudel from the post of General Secretary.

The meeting unanimously endorsed the proposal.

Earlier, a meeting of the Standing Committee of the faction held in Perisdanda on January 24 had decided to remove Oli from the party.

Stating that Oli was increasing his activities against the party’s policy, the standing committee meeting had decided to ask him to explain why he should not be removed from the party membership.

The leaders handed over the letter to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on January 19 with a three-day ultimatum. However, after Oli did not give an explanation, the meeting on January 24 decided to expel Oli from the party.

The same decision has also been endorsed by the Central Committee on Monday.

Earlier, the Central Committee meeting had removed Oli from the post of party chairman.

NCP has been divided into two factions after PM Oli dissolved the House of Representatives on December 20.
