Election Commission refutes statement by PM Oli, sends letters to both NCP factions

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has refuted the statement by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli that the commission sent back the application of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal group.

During a virtual address, the Prime Minister had said that the commission had sent back the application for failing to meet the required procedure.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that the application was not returned.

Meanwhile, the commission has written a letter to both the factions on Friday regarding the dispute.

The commission has asked for documents informing about the legal status of the party.
