KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has taken strong exception to the arrest of its cadre for criticizing leader of Prime Minister Oli faction Mahesh Basnet.

Police on Wednesday arrested NC’s active member Dilli Bahadur Chand of Banke on the charge of flaying Basnet on social media.

Chand had posted comments on the lawmakers’ abduction which had been orchestrated at the initiation of Basnet few months ago.  Issuing a press note on Thursday, NC District Party Office, Banke strongly objected to the arrest of Chand.

“Our attention has been drawn towards the arrest of Dilli Bahadur Chand of Banke district,” said NC in the press note, warning a stringent action ahead if Chand is not immediately release without conditions.
