KATHMANDU: With most of the manpower deployed at Balambu at construction work for the 140 bed Corona Special Hospital, the Armed Police Force Balambu Brigade is a busy site these days.”
The government has assigned Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Patan Hospital, Bir Hospital and TU Teaching Hospital for the treatment of coronavirus victims.
In addition to this, it had asked Armed Police Force to develop APF’s Balambu Hospital into a special hospital to take care of the corona patients.
DIG Prabin Kumar Shrestha, the spokesperson of APF Nepal informed that the personnel were working day and night to make complete the mission on time.
APF is converting its 300 ropani’s construction into a Special Corona Hospital.
APF has a hospital of its own
According to DIG Harish Chandra Adhikari, the Chief of APF Hospital, under coordination of Ministry of Health and Population, the Nepal Police, Nepal Army and APF have mobilized one team each for the construction of the hospital.
140 bed Corona Hospital in final stage
The Balambu’s special hospital is in final stage now.
“The 60-bed building of the hospital to be built in the first phase will be used for the corona infected patients, another building with similar capacity will have the patients with coronavirus symptoms,” DIG Adhikari said, “ There will be a separate building with 20-bed capacity for the patients to be treated in ventilators.”
Together with the construction work, the procurement of goods and supplies for the hospital has also about to be completed soon.
He added that they are working hard to complete the hospital and are also planning to add the bed- capacity as per necessity.
Brigade shifted
For the hospital construction purpose APF headquarter has shited its Balambu based Pashupatinath Brigade No. 9 to Staff College, Sano Gaucharan.
Besides, the Dogs Division, Central Workshop and Academy located at Balambu are also in the process of being shifted.
Earlier, APF had expressed its commitment to offer any location it has been using to the government when needed.
