Two girls being trafficked to India rescued

JHAPA: Two teenage girls who were being trafficked to India have been rescued.

According to DSP Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, the girls, originally from Kavre, were rescued from Nepal-India border Kakadvitta of Mechinagar-6 on Wednesday.

Police have arrested 21-year-old Sudip Babu Pokharel of Tamakoshi rural municipality-4 of Dolakha in this connection.

Pokharel lured the girls by promising them lucrative jobs India after health-related training, police said.

Police said they have filed a case against Pokharel under the Human Trafficking and Transportation Act, 2064.
