KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota is preparing to furnish his reply on a case regarding the dissolution of the House of Representatives sub-judice at the Supreme Court (SC).
Speaker Sapkota said on Thursday that the current constitution does not give the prime minister the right to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Sapkota expressed this view during a meeting with the representatives of various women’s associations who went to draw his attention against the House dissolution.
“At present, the constitution does not give the prime minister the right to dissolve the House in this situation,” he said, “I am replying same to the court.”
Similarly, he said that he was holding extensive consultations with all the concerned parties on how to play his role in the defense of the constitution and the maximum interest of the country and the people.
Women parliamentarians representing the federal parliament in the House of Representatives and four different women’s organizations had called on the speaker to repeal the Prime Minister’s move to dissolve the parliament.
