Hydro project workers postpone stir, 69 to undergo PCR test

TANAHUN: The workers at Tanahu Hydropower Project have postponed their agitation after the human resources management of the project agreed to conduct a PCR test on them. The Sino Hydropower has been undertaking the project.

The workers had been staging stir since last Friday, arguing that coronavirus positive workers were mobilized in the construction works. A worker Moti Shrestha informed that they stopped stir after the agreement that their demand for PCR test would be addressed.

“We began protest after the company mobilized workers in construction though they were tested positive. The protest is halted till the result of PCR test,” he added.

Similarly, project chief Achyut Ghimire said 69 workers would undergo the PCR test as per the agreement. “The workers who returned to work after Dashain festival would undergo the test for now and join the construction works after the result,” he added.

Earlier too, in mid-October, the workers had launched an agitation, demanding PCR test on all of them. The construction resumed after the Sino Hydro Company managed the test.
