2,508 diagnosed COVID-19 positive, Nepal’s tally jumps to 170,743



KATHMANDU: As many as 2,508 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal’s COVID-19 has reached 170,743 with the fresh cases as of Saturday afternoon.

Altogether 9,279 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

A total of 2,264 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 131,222 in the country.

The recovery rate stands at 76.9 percent. Nepal currently has 38,584 active cases.

Likewise, 2,410 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

As many as 17 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death tally in the country to 937, the Ministry confirmed.

A total of 296 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 69 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry, 31 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 12 in Province 2, 184 in Bagmati Province, 15 in Gandaki Province, 45 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali Province, and five in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of nine in Province 1, 52 in Bagmati, three in Gandaki Province, four in Lumbini Province and one in Sudurpaschim Province are on the ventilator support.

Meanwhile, a total of 14 out of 77 districts in Nepal have over 500 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari in Province 1, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Kavre in Bagmati Province, Kaski and Nawalparasi East in Gandaki Province, Dang, and Rupandehi in Lumbini Province and Kailali in Sudurpaschim Province have over 500 active cases.

Mustang, Manang and Bajura have zero active cases.
