Oli proposes Gautam as prime minister and Nepal party chair



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli, who is also the chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has proposed Bam Dev Gautam as the Prime Minister.

In the Secretariat meeting of the party held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday evening, Oli said he would resign once the Coronavirus pandemic subsides and propose Gautam as the Prime Minister.

Similarly, he has proposed Madhav Kumar Nepal as the party chairman.

According to a Secretariat member, Prime Minister Oli proposed leader Gautam as the Prime Minister and Nepal as the party chairman with an effect after the Coronavirus pandemic subsides.

“Let do it once the Coronavirus pandemic subsides. Let’s reach a consensus on Prime Minister and party chairman now,” the source quoted Prime Minister Oli as saying.

According to Party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha the NCP Secretariat meet will sit for the second rounds of talks on May 2. The meeting will fix the date for the meeting of the Standing Committee.
