COVID-19 death toll climbs to 61, 618 in US with 1,063,351 cases



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 2, 352 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 61, 618 as of Thursday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 27, 586 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,063,351. This is an increase by 2,546 compared to the other day.  It was 25, 040 on Wednesday.

Currently, 854, 619 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 18, 671 is critical.  Meanwhile, 147,114 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 23, 474 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 6, 770 and 3, 670 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 227,906 and infecting 3,216,808 people as of Thursday morning.
