Bahrain Defence Force to climb Mt Everest in 2021

KATHMANDU: The Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the military force of the Kingdom of Bahrain, is planning to climb the Mt Everest in 2021.

Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Commander of the Royal Guard, has selected a team for the expedition.

According to Nepal’s expedition organizer Seven Summits Treks, BDF is in discussion on the issue with them.

Likewise, before climbing the Mt. Everest in the spring season of 2021, the team is planning to climb Mt Lobuche East (6,119 m) and Mt Manaslu (8,156 m) for the acclimatization and training to climb the world’s highest peak.

Mt Lobuche East will give the team the climbing skills required to progress on to the higher peaks in Nepal.

Similarly, Mt Manaslu, refers to as ‘death zone’, requires the use of a supplemental oxygen system.

After the successful completion of these two mountains, they will go ahead for Mt Everest, Mingma Sherpa told Khabarhub.

As per their schedule, the plan to climb Lobuche East within eight months from now is likely to have an impact by the COVID-19.

Mingma Sherpa, Managing Director at Seven Summits Treks, said that they are all set to commence the expedition after the government allows them to operate.
