Application filed before Election Commission for registration of CPN-UML



KATHMANDU: An application has been filed with the Election Commission for the registration of a party named CPN-UML.

The application has been filed at the time when the party with the name doesn’t exist with the unification between the then CPN-UML and the then CPN (Maoist Center).

The issue was also discussed during the Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

According to the information received, Sandhya Tiwari of Jhapa has applied to the Election Commission for registration.

In today’s meeting, NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had introduced the agenda and sought the opinion of the Prime Minister.

NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed that the meeting discussed the opinion expressed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the occasion of Madan Bhandari’s birth anniversary on Sunday and the application for registration of a party named CPN-UML filed with the Election Commission two days ago.

The Election Commission has also confirmed that a party named CPN-UML has applied for registration.
