94 pc COVID-19 cases in Nepal are imported: Health Minister Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has said that 94 percent of those infected so far have been from abroad.

Receiving the health supplies provided by the Nepal Red Cross Society and the Coca-Cola Foundation, Dhakal said that 94 percent of over 13,000 infected people in the country have come from abroad and 6 percent have been found in the community level.

He said that the number of infected people had reached 13,248 by Monday, adding that 3,134 of them have recovered which shows that situation is under control.

Minister Dhakal also informed that the labs are being expanded to test 10,000 samples through the PCR method daily.

At present, 7,791 tests are possible daily from 22 PCR labs across the country and in the next few days, 10,000 tests will be conducted daily in 33 labs across the country, Minister Dhakal said.
