Policeman deployed for security of quarantine thrashed



SAPTARI: A policeman deployed for the security of a quarantine facility at Laxmi Narayan Secondary School at Kanchanrup Municipality-1 in Saptari was misbehaved on Saturday by those quarantined people.

Area Police Office in Kanchanrup said that policeman Kamlesh Sah was injured when two people under quarantine and two visitors attacked him.

Municipality’s senior health assistant Dambar Gupta said that Sah has sustained knee and face injuries.

Sah is admitted to Dharmeshwor Hospital for treatment after primary care at a health center in Kanchanrup.

Police have complained that the local people have unnecessarily made crowds in the quarantine by the family members of those individuals living under quarantines and villagers though such facilities were set up to keep the people coming home from India and other areas for preventing the spread of the virus.

Police said that the policeman was beaten up with the bamboo stick by those four at a time when they were requested to maintain physical distancing during their meeting.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Makendra Kumar Mishra of Kanchanrup said that the act was condemnable.
Of the accused, one is arrested. Police said that the other accused are under quarantine.

There are 31 individuals under the quarantine. RSS
