Hailstone destroys crops in Baglung



BAGLUNG: Hailstone has damaged crops at Ward No 2 and 3 of the Kothekhola rural municipality of Baglung district.

The hailstorm induced a loss of around Rs 5.3 million.

Vegetables and crops such onion, wheat, garlic, lentils and barley among others planted at Bhimapokhara and Dhamja have been destroyed with the adverse weather, according to Kothekhola rural municipality.

Rural municipality’s chief administrative officer Khim Bishwakarma said crops amounting to more than Rs 2.5 million was recorded at Dhamja.

He said that the farmers whose crops have been damaged will receive compensation from the local government.

The rural municipality will arrange fertilizer and seedlings for the farmers, according to him.
