Former Friends’ Club player Panthi dies from COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Former Friends’ Club ‘A’ Division football player Mahesh Panthi has died from the COVID-19 in the United States.

The Club confirmed his death writing on Facebook, “Sad News, we lost such a great sportsman and humble person who dedicated his life for our club. #Mahesh_Sir, was great #football_player , and most #respected executive body of #Friends_Club, Kupondole. We extend our deepest sympathies, may our Lord comfort you and your loved ones. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

The Club has expressed condolences to Panthi saying it came as a shock to the Club.

He was staying in Virginia, USA for over a decade. He is survived by his mother, spouse, daughter, and a son.

Nearly, 50 Nepalis have lost their lives abroad due in COVID-19 so far.
