Death toll in US climbs to 59, 246 after 2, 450 die in 24 hrs

KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 2, 450 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 59, 246 as of Wednesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 25, 040 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,035,396. This is an increase by 4, 157 compared to the other day.  It was 20, 883 on Tuesday.

Currently, 834, 199 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 15, 635 is critical.  Meanwhile, 141, 951 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 23, 446 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 6, 442 and 3, 567 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 217,784 and infecting 3,136,052 people as of Wednesday morning.
