Chinese Vice Minister Guo meets with NC President Deuba



KATHMANDU: Visiting Vice Minister of the International Department of Communist Party of China (CPC) Guo Yezhou has paid a visit to President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.

The four-member delegation led by Vice Minister Guo which arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday held a meeting with NC President Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha this morning.

The meeting dwelled on the Nepal-China relations, said Foreign Affairs Expert Dinesh Bhattarai. “Vice Minister Guo conveyed an invitation to Deuba from Chinese President Xi Jinping to a program to be organized on the 100th anniversary of the CPC and  appreciated the Nepali Congress’ similar outlook on China while within and outside the government,” said Bhattarai.

During the meeting, Deuba congratulated the Communist Party of China on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, said Bhattarai. The delegation also discussed the contribution of late BP Koirala towards laying the foundation for the bilateral ties between China and Nepal.

The Chinese delegation will also visit the other leaders of the NC, according to sources.

The Chinese delegation had met with President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli upon the upon the arrival in Kathmandu on Sunday.

It paid visits to chairman duo of Prachanda-Nepal faction Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal on Monday.

Similarly, it also visited former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Speaker Agni Sapkota on Monday itself.
