Saudi Arabia halts int’l flight for a week



RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has decided to halt international flights for a week citing new variant of COVID-19.

The permission for the flight is allowed only for especial cases, said the Home Ministry of Saudi Arabia.

It has said the flight is allowed only for the foreigners to return home and the shipment of the cargo, said the Saudi government.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman had announced that they would halt the international flights in a bid to curb the further spread of the COVID-19.

Similarly, the United Kingdom has shut down both air and waterways after the new variant of the COVID-19 was detected.

Saudi Arabia has currently 362,000 infection cases while over 6,000 have died from the pandemic.
