Govt appeals public not to participate in pro-monarchy rallies



KATHMANDU: The government has opened its mouth about the protests and rallies organized in various parts of the country against the republic and the restoration of monarchy.

At a press conference, the government objected to the royalists’ attempt to provoke people against the constitution and the law.

Spokesperson of the Government of Nepal Parbat Gurung appealed to all citizens to refrain from participating in the protests or rallies against the current political system and the government as “reactionaries” were trying to raise their heads.

Pro-monarchy rallies have been taking place in different parts of the country of late.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is openly supporting and leading the rallies with a significant number of Nepal Communist Party and the Nepali Congress supporters participating in the rallies.

A rally was held in Nepalgunj under the leadership of RPP General Secretary and Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana on Tuesday.
