Chinese Defense Minister Wei and NA Chief Thapa discuss progress on past military assistance



KATHMANDU: Chinese Defense Minister Wei and Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa met and discussed issues of mutual interest and bilateral military cooperation today.

According to the Nepal Army (NA), Defense Minister Wei and Chief of Army Staff Thapa discussed bilateral military cooperation and other issues of mutual interest at the meeting held at NA Headquarters in Kathmandu.

Wei arrived in Nepal on a one-day visit on Sunday morning.

After the meeting, NA Chief Thapa presented a short audio-visual material on the history and current role of the Nepal Army was presented to the delegation.

Likewise, discussions were also held between the Chinese delegation and the Nepal Army on issues of mutual interest, mainly on training and student exchange activities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the progress on military assistance agreed upon in the past.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the discussion.
