IPL2020: Mumbai beats Bangalore to secure play-off spot



KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indians has defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night, Mumbai reached the target in 19.6 overs at the cost of five wickets while chasing the 165-run target set by Bangalore.

Mumbai’s SA Yadav top-scored with 79 runs including 10 fours and three sixes off 43 runs.  Ishan Kishan and Q de Kock contributed 25 and 18 runs respectively.

Bangalore’s Mohammed Siraj and YS Chahal took two wickets each of Mumbai.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bangalore notched up 164 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

D Padikkal made highest 74 runs including 12 fours and one six off 45 balls while JR Philippe and AB de Villiers scored 33 and 15 balls respectively.

In reply, Mumbai’s JJ Bumrah took highest three wickets while TA Boult, RD Chahar and KA Pollard grabbed one wicket each of Bangalore.

With this, Mumbai is in the first position with 16 points from 12 games while Bangalore is in the second position with 14 points from equal 12 games.
