Nepal Ventilator Services aims to provide 1,000 ventilators in 100 days



KATHMANDU: Nepal Ventilator Services that was established with the objective of providing one thousand ventilators in 100 days has procured equipment worth more than Rs 20 million till Saturday.

The equipment was purchased for the ventilator bank that was set up with the objective of providing free ventilators in COVID hospitals across the country.

Member of Ventilator Services Rameshwar Khanal said that the bank that was set up keeping in view for the service of critically ill patients being treated at government hospitals has provided two ventilators free of cost to the TU Teaching Hospital.

He said that more than two dozen ventilators have been provided to other hospitals in the country.

He added that the community and private hospitals will be provided ventilators at the price one-third less than the market price. He said that the government hospitals will be provided free but private and community hospitals will be provided with ventilators to cover the operating cost.

Stating that the bank has so far received the assistance of Rs 6 million in cash and other items, he said that Rs 500,000 has been deposited by the board members.

Khanal also said that preparations are being made to take the remaining amount as a loan from Laxmi Bank and Nepal Merchant Bank.

He said that the bank plans to move ahead in the process of purchasing ventilators by coordinating with COVID-19 Crisis Management Nepal (CCMC).

Along with Khanal, Dr. Vishal Dhakal, Dr. Subash Acharya and Dipendra Chaulagain have been involved in the campaign.
