9 including 7 of a family die in Kalikot landslide



KALIKOT: As many as nine people including seven members of a family have died in landslides triggered by incessant rains in Naraharinath rural municipality in Kalikot on early Wednesday.

According to District Police Office (DPO) Kalikot, the landslides that occurred in two different places at Naraharinath Municipality have taken lives of nine persons including seven from a family.

The police informed that Gange Budha, 62, Naina Budha, 61, Kusha Budha, 24, Chandrika Budha, 10, Ram Budha, 7, and Charitra Budha of two and half years who belong to the same family living in Naraharinath-7, had died on the spot.

Bimal Budha, 18, succumbed to his injures while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Similarly, Bale Budha, 62, and his wife Mana Budha also died when the landslide buried their house  at Naraharinath-4.

The police and the locals are clearing debris to retrieve the dead bodies.

The torrential rain that started last week has taken many lives of people in a short span of time.
