Hundreds of houses inundated as floods enter human settlement in Kailali



KAILALI:  Hundreds of houses have been have been inundated due to monsoon rains in Kailali district.

According to District Police Office, Kailali, most parts of Janaki rural municipality have been deluged after swollen canal water entered human settlements.

Food grains, clothes and other belongings have been destroyed in the floods, said Shubham Chaudhary, a local.

Chaudhary said wards 3,7,8,9 of Janaki rural municipality have been seriously hit by the inundation.

“Hundreds of houses have been inundated after floods entered the human settlement. Food grains and clothes have been drenched in water,” said Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, Tikapur municipality-5, Shahipur, Simreni, Beluwa settlements of ward no 6 have gone under water.

The roads have been disrupted in the area due to the inundation,” said Badghar Jaishi, adding, “Shahipur-Simreni human settlement cannot been inaccessible for rescue.”  The human settlement needs to be shifted if the rain continued further, he added.

Similarly, Bhajani, Joshipur, Hasanpur, Shivanagar among other areas of Kailali have been engulfed in floods after swollen Kandra, Kanda and Pathraiya rivers wreaked havoc on the area.
