KMC to introduce local curriculum in institutional, community schools

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to introduce a local curriculum of 100 full marks compulsory subject in all the institutional and community schools in the KMC area.

The KMC is going to introduce the curriculum of local subjects for the first time with an objective of imparting knowledge about culture and festivals celebrated in KMC as well as skill, business, moral education, geography, health, hygiene and language, among others.

The curriculum of local subjects has been prepared in order to teach this subject from class 1 to 8 in all institutional and community schools in the KMC area.

There are now 92 community and 640 institutional schools in the KMC area.

The subject would be taught in the Nepal Bhasa language. Coordinator of Curriculum Committee formed by KMC to prepare the curriculum, Dr. Chunda Bajracharya said, “The curriculum prepared by the KMC is in the phase of approval from the Education Committee. Book will be prepared based on the curriculum soon after the approval of the curriculum.”
