Nepal, China to jointly announce height of Mount Everest

KATHMANDU: Nepal and China will announce the height of Mount Everest jointly, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal has stated.

In a tweet on Thursday night, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi said that the two countries would jointly declare the height of the world’s highest peak.

“Congratulations to both Chinese and Nepali teams for successfully reaching the summit of Mt. Zhumulangma/Sagarmatha, the eternal symbol of the friendship between China & Nepal. Both countries will jointly announce the height later according to the joint statement,” she said in a tweet.

The Chinese team had reached the summit on May 27, 2020, to measure the height of Everest and the Nepali surveyor team had reached the summit on May 22, 2019.
