CM Raut writes to PM Oli calling for special economic package for Province 2

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of State-2, Lalbabu Raut, has written to Prime Minister KP Oli to provide special economic relief package to Province-2.

Chief Minister Raut has asked the federal government to provide special package to Province-2 for combatting the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that the package was necessitated as the current management seemed inadequate in the face of the increased risk of COVID-19 infection in the province given the open border with India and the possibility of a large number of people who have gone for work in India returning home.

CM Raut has urged the federal government to come up with concrete programs as it has become challenging for the State government alone providing relief materials including food grains to the citizens who have been facing problems in their daily living due to the lockdown.

He stated that although the province government, in coordination with the local levels, distributed relief assistance in two phases, this has been inadequate given the geographical situation, population structure, poor human development index and the low status of social development.
