President remits remaining prison term of 241 inmates



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has on Thursday remitted the remaining prison terms of around 241 prisoners at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the Republic Day.

Among them, 241 inmates were pardoned of their term imprisonment while the remaining 8 inmates have been freed from all their charges including fine and prison sentence.

The President, as the Head of the State, pardoned the remaining prison term of prisoners including Ramesh Bishwokarma alias Ram Bahadur in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Criminal Offence (Punishment Determination and Execution) Act 2074 BS and the Criminal Offences (Prison Term Remit) Regulations 2076 BS, assistant spokesperson at the President Office, Keshab Prasad Gimire, said in a press statement.
