75 tourists rescued from Pokhara, Lukla



KATHMANDU: A total of 75 tourists were rescued through flights of Yeti Airlines and Tara Air on Saturday.

22 tourists from Pokhara and 53 from Lukla marooned after Nepal enforced a weeklong lockdown in a bid to combat COVID-19 were brought to Kathmandu.

Among the rescued are 61 German and European nationals (22 from Pokhara and 39 from Lukla) and 14 Australian nationals from Lukla.

An aircraft of Tara Air is on standby to rescue 15 US nationals from Lukla. However, the flight has not taken off as Lukla Airport is closed due to bad weather.

Embassies in Kathmandu have started rescuing their citizens from different parts of the country and evacuating them to their respective countries from Nepal.
