608 foreigners evacuated from Nepal

KATHMANDU: A total of 608 foreigners marooned in Nepal following a weeklong lockdown enforced by the government in a bid to combat COVID-19 have been evacuated on Saturday.

Two wide-body aircraft of Qatar Airways evacuated them from Kathmandu to Doha.

They will return to their respective countries through regular flights from there.

Some 304 foreigners from different countries were evacuated from Kathmandu on Friday.

An aircraft of Qatar Airways had taken off from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) carrying them — mostly German and French nationals – on the fourth day of the weeklong lockdown.
